The author is committed to ensuring that no participant is at risk of harm as either a direct or indirect consequence of participating in the research, and that individuals’ rights are upheld after the study had finished, throughout its dissemination. In doing so, the researcher will guarantee that participants remain anonymous to third parties through the handling of personal data in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation, that no sensitive data is required for the purposes of participation, and that the themes which will be approached during the focus group, survey or interviews do not amount to subjects which may cause emotional distress. Further, individuals have the options of questioning the research on subjects relating to the project, and of refusing to participate in the research at any point during their completion of the research, should any element of the study cause them concern.
